Is this normal for 38 weeks? HELP!?
Question by .: Is this normal for 38 weeks? HELP!?
Hi girls..
Can’t actually believe im 38 weeks tomorrow but anyway lol..
I don’t feel anything different at all. Ive had about 1 non painful braxton hick, 1 painful (my first!) and lots of really bad sciatica. I might feel pressure when i walk for like an hour then it goes away for the rest of the day!
Whats going on! Is this normal not to feel anything different!?
All i see on here is everyone with symptoms of early labour and i don’t feel anything!
Any ideas? Was you the same? I would love to have my little boy a couple of days before christmas but i cant see it happening..(is it true labour can just happen without any previous discomforts?!)

Answer by kyzaz_23
The pressure you are feeling is most likely the baby pushing down. This is completely normal!
I had no prior warnings to either of my labours starting.
With my first my waters broke and I started getting contractions an hour later.
With my second I felt like a gymnastics routine and a pop and had a contraction. I only had another 2 for that whole hour. Then suddenly they dropped to 5 minutes apart and my daughter was born 2 hours later!
This is the worst part because you know you are so close to holding your baby!! Just be patient and enjoy the last few weeks. Your little guy will make his big entrance soon enough!

Who Can Help Me? In Desperate Need Of Help!?
Question by : Who Can Help Me? In Desperate Need Of Help!?
Hello All! I am in need of help about my problem. Two years ago at work I had two right low back injuries that were ten days apart. My first one was when I was unloading a truck and I lifted a box that was way too heavy and I twisted too hard and fast to the right to put the box down and I heard a loud “pop” in my lower back on the right and then I had instant pain. I was put on light duty for a month or two and then ten days later I was stocking laundry detergent on the shelves which they went over my limits from my doctor and the cardboard boxes were too hard to break down with just the box cutter so I simply placed the box down on the floor, put my left foot on top of the box and started to put my weight on it to break it down, as I started to do that the box slipped out from underneath my foot and I went flying backwards and landed directly onto my butt and low back area. I had instant pain in and unfortunately I landed on my right buttocks. I wasn’t even healed from the first injury to my right side and then I had another one on the same side ten days later. I have been to so many doctors, specialists, and I’m seeing a pain management doctor. First they say it’s Sciatica and my pain management doctor did some kind of test and he said it was my Right Sacroiliac Joint. My symptoms are: Right low back pain, it’s felt at the dimple on the right side, it goes down into my buttocks, and the back of my right thigh. Then it goes into my right hip, I can feel the pain in the back of my right hip, the side of my hip and I get groin pain bad. Now, I’m having a tingling feeling going down my right leg. It starts in the back and goes down my right leg into my foot and toes. It is also felt in the front of my leg and in the front of my thigh. I’m really concerned about the tingling and pins and needles feeling. I haven’t had this for awhile now. Not to mention the other night I peed my bed. Please don’t say anything rude about that, I’m VERY embarrassed about that. I have not had that problem until now. I don’t know what to believe now. I have had the Sacroiliac Joint injections and it just made it worse. I am experiencing the tingling sensation now and it’s pretty bad. I also have weakness in my right leg and my doctor already said that. I have had a MRI, bone scan, and a EMG done and everything is fine, but I’m having really bad hip pain, a burning feeling in my lower back at the dimple and the burning is in my hip and groin area. I also get numbness in my groin area as well. So I don’t know what to do or think anymore. I get bad pain down my leg and my inner thigh, the pain is down both the front and back of my right leg. It’s only my right side. I have had numerous amounts of physical therapy, water therapy, Osteopathic work done. I was on Tramadol for the pain but that doesn’t even work anymore, it used to when I first got hurt but now I’m on Vicodin and I don’t want to be on a narcotic pain reliever for a long time, but that seems to be the ONLY thing that is helping me to control the pain. I have to sleep on my left side with a pillow between my knees just to sleep, it’s hard to get in and out of vehicles because the pain goes down my leg, Walking after 15 minutes is impossible, my hip is burning and my back is burning and hurting. This is ridicious and they can’t find anything on any images. I don’t know what to do. I need some serious help, and quick. The tingling down my leg is really scaring me. If someone can help me ASAP that would be great. Thank you very much!!

While not medical professional, I can speak from experience as someone that had a herniated disk that touched the sciatic nerve for over a year and a half. I personally started taking martial arts classes and I would highly recommend any activity that involves lots of stretching. I say go for it!!

What doe sthis sound like to you? I keep getting really scary results through google?
Question by Parker Bailey born 4/1/09 9lb 1o: What doe sthis sound like to you? I keep getting really scary results through google?
I get this really painful sensation in my thigh. It feels kinda like if you were to ram a stick into your leg and just leave it there. (Starts out strong and sudden then just stays constant without dulling in pain.) About 20 minutes to an hour later I get a horrible chest pain. It feels like someone is squeezing the life out of me. I cannot breathe or talk during this chest pain and my face turns really red then flushes white.
I am 12 weeks pregnant and voiced my concerns to my OB as the leg pain I got with my last pregnancy was more of a shooting pain. (Sciatica. He said it does not sound normal to him.. He ordered some tests for me to check potassium, calcium, electrolytes, and clot factor. I type these symptoms into google and I keep getting results for Deep vein thrombosis. Please tell me someone else has experienced this pain and it was something else.

I’ve not had, nor heard of, what you’re decribing. I’d deffinately go through the full panel of tests until they can find out exactly whats going on, because that just doesn’t sound right. The chest pains, and skin flushes are usually bad signs…so hopefully thats just heartburn and hormones, and not something more serious. Sorry, but nope, I haven’t had that happen with any of my pregnancies. G’luck on it though.

is there a cure for sciatica?
Question by Ryudai: is there a cure for sciatica?
I’ve been suffering from what I am certain is sciatic pain on my left side, something to do with the sciatic nerve. The pain does not allow me to bend down and reach my toes like I used to be able to about a year ago. I cannot stretch my left leg without major pain reaching from my lower back down my leg. I’m tired of this pain and I want it gone. Is there a cure for sciatica?

Stretching of the piriformis. You should also get massaged.

Q&A: Pain near my left hip joint when I sneeze, what could cause it?
Question by squallyz06: Pain near my left hip joint when I sneeze, what could cause it?
There is a sharp pain my left hip joint area when I sneeze. I drove across country earlier this year and soon after I got back I had the same pain in the same spot, but it was consistent for the most part. Some days it would be a dull pain all day with sharp pains when I moved it in certain directions. Went to the doctor but he said it was probably just a pulled muscle from sitting too long and that I needed to stretch it better. Never stretched it better and it slowly went away on it’s own but now it’s returning, but only when I sneeze (which was one of the things that would aggravate it even more when I had the same pain earlier in the year). I guess my question would be if anyone else has had symptoms like this and if so, what caused it? The only thing I could think of would be an aggravated sciatica.
:edit: Yes, it did go away back in September and it’s just now showing back up. Unfortunately I had to deal with the military medical system so getting a good diagnosis is hard.

It could be your sciatica, but i doubt that, it would hurt more often if it was, not only when you sneezed! the thing that popped into my head when i read this is a hernia have you been checked for that? it could be a number if different things but i would most def. go talk to your doctor about it, if it has not gone away after awhile i doubt it is a muscle pull.

Do I have Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) Disease?
Question by : Do I have Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) Disease?
Hey guys,
My name is Ricardo and I am 33 and since January I have developed foot drop in my right foot and find it difficult to walk and have the “classic” foot drop symptoms such as over-compensating with my left foot when I walk, inability to raise my right foot by the heel and have injured myself so many times from falling over due to my toes dragging on the floor.
My gait is bizarre and I walk as if I have a limp.
My hearing has been a problem too for the past year whereby I sometimes experience “popping of the ear” similar to when you land on a plane and have had them looked at as I assumed I had excessive wax in them and needed them syringed. Predictably, my ear canals are clear!
I have lost a lot of weight recently (12 st) due to s gastric bypass operation and when I was big I had difficulty walking with sporadic pain in my right foot rising up and down it to my sciatic nerve – I self-diagnosed Sciatica and put it down to my being overweight. However I often get back pain for no particular reason and there is no pattern to it. Since the weight-loss I still get the occassional “sciatic twinge”.
My vision deteriorates throughout the day whereby I struggle to read road signs or the “next tube train home” display in the tube stations but sometimes it is crystal clear. It deteriorated so much so I went for an eye test only to be told that my eyes have improved!!
I sometimes get shoulder and neck pain too yet my breathing is ok at the moment although I have excessive cattarh due to recovering from quite a bad cold.
I also get pins and needles in my foot which travels up and down my calf and my foot often pains me.
I have Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, High Cholestrol and Depression (Happy Days!!)
I have been referred to a neurologist in London (currently relocated from London to Hanmpshire) in July and will definetly attend.
Any ideas guys?
Rick.
P.S. Sorry for any typos!!

Hi Rik,
You sound like my husand! only he’s 20 years older
)
Well, I think you’ll find that the Diabetes is responsible for at least half your physical symptoms! My husband experienced…and still does sometimes…all sorts of nasty ones too, and no-one tells you when you are diagnosed about the little foibles of such a condition, do they.
I expect your high blood pressure is an off-shoot from the Diabetes, it’s quite a common companion, sadly.
Also, you mention pains in your shoulder and neck…same, this end. The Doctor says they aren’t connected but we know 3 Diabetics, who ALL disagree. My man, has started to have ‘acupuncture’ for the shoulder pain, it got so bad. It has helped tremendously!!
We got all the books on Diabetes, (like we do…
) ) and I’ve just gone and found the book, it’s called “EVERYTHING you need to know about DIABETES” by Paula Ford-Martin. Published by David & Charles. (Devon)
Excellent book… but more interestingly, it covers your symptoms and gives very good advice and different options to deal with it all.
Hopefully, with your Cholestrol, you only use OLIVE OIL (virgin…!) with everything you cook…because it really does help lower it, so does porridge…so make sure you get your oats !!
Sounds like you are doing the right thing with the neurologist appointment/consultation anyway. It can’t hurt, likely it will be reassuring.
The ‘vision’ thing is also a common Diabetic complaint as it naturally affects the eyes. It will also take you longer than most people to recover from a cold, or any other virus when you are Diabetic…but you’ll be okay!
I hope my warblings may help you, I watched my man getting really fed up with it, however he’s doing great now…though it’s partly because we have tried different things and been open-minded about our approach to things, which seems to make sense.
Good idea with the ‘weight’ loss decision, they work well.
Best wishes.

back strength. advice on back requested.?
Question by centurion216: back strength. advice on back requested.?
I have a slight shift from S1 to L5 in spine. I had it for years.
A few days ago I went to physical therapy, and the guy, besides doing the exercises pushed on my spine really hard( in upper back, middle, and lower). We did ice and my back felt great.
Once i got home i had a true sciatica. Pain much sharper than what Im used to, going mostly in the thigh, sometimes down whole foot. Symptoms repeated since (1 week)
The bump in my back feels the same as it was.
I already got an mri this year, so I dont think doctor can do another one soon.
Anyone encounter this before?
Pain source shifted from lower back first then maybe thigh.
I am looking for people with this condition and MD input, thanks.
David

If your physical therapist is an academic,
it could be normal your pain is worse.
The main cause could be simply academic arrogance.
MD, PhD, blahblahblah.
If you understand they are the jokers in the game that is called life,
you can be a winner.
