I would get the same pubic bone with my last pregnancy. it got to the point to where I had to just stand there without moving becuase the movement would make it worse. Once, I had to be carried inside the house. I told the doc this, but he was never able to determine what it was. As soon as I had my baby, the pain was gone. good luck.

What is the quickest and best treatment for sciatica?

Question by Frank: What is the quickest and best treatment for sciatica?
I have to take an international flight in a few days and my back and left leg pain will make it miserable. My doctor prescribed a muscle relaxer and some exercises a couple of days ago. Ibuprophen helps more than the muscle relaxer and the exercises may be helping a little and slowly. I am going for an important meeting that I can’t miss.

The thing that has helped me the most with sciatica is to have a good chiropractic adjustment once a week to keep it in place. This eliminates the pain more than an anti-inflammatory/pain killer (I’ve been on Bextra and then Mobic, 2x per day. Both are NSAIDs).

Try to get a good adjustment right before your trip, and call ahead to schedule an adjustment right after reaching your destination.

Back Pain–Please help.?

Question by bhstrack: Back Pain–Please help.?
I have been experiencing pain along my spine, my left shoulder blade, my lower back, and I get leg cramps. While I do not experience these symptoms all the time, I do have them often. The pain normally starts in the shoulder blade. They all hurt for several days and all at the same time. It hurts along my spine when I sleep, stand, sit at school, pretty much all the time but is really bad when standing and sitting. I have been experiencing these pains for the past five years (since I was 13ish).I was a dancer for many years and am not sure if I did something to myself or if it is something else. Sciatica is genetic in my family and my aunt has been suffering with it for many years. But I was also wondering if it could have something to do with eating disorders (i’ve been in recovery). Please help–I’m tired of these pains.

Q&A: Doctors ?? A Diagnosis Perhaps?

Question by #1 “Abuela”: Doctors ?? A Diagnosis Perhaps?
Okay, here goes.Occaisional “blurry” vision in eyes. On and off scaly itchy scalp. Constant(unless I’ve been tanning) “rash” between shoulder blades. Periodic(3-4 times per week) “shakiness” and pain of hands when writing. Daily pain in elbow areas. Sciatica in left leg along with hip pain. Have been “diagnosed with “Spina Bifida Occulta”,”Spondylolysthesis grade 3″ “Osgood Schlatter’s”,”Hiatal Hernia” and “Osteoarthritis” with bony spurs in my cervical spine (and the base of my neck) causing excruciating pain when aggravated the “wrong” way. They did arthroscopic on my right knee a few years back because it kept hyperextending. It’s gone downhill since. Did “Synvisc” series in June. EXPENSIVE but non-productive.They want to replace it now along with the spinal surgery to replace deteriorated discs from OA.
Now, an “aquaintance” of my mother’s has MS and said that “I” have some of the classic symptoms, and should go to a Neurologist ?16 ADVIL daily. Only 42yrs old !!!
5′6″ 160lb Female with normal “levels” when bloodwork was done. Bllod Pressure good too.Cardio and weight lift 3-4 times per week. Omeprazole 20mg daily for stomach “issues”

No way should you accept a diagnosis online. You should see an orthopedist and neurologist that are recommended by your primary physician. It could be many things, but spinal surgery won’t stop a rash between your shoulder blades, so see a specialist – NOW!

i’m 22 and worried about irregular bleeding, can anyone help?

Question by Rose P: i’m 22 and worried about irregular bleeding, can anyone help?
After handing in my dissertations i had sex with my boyfriend for the first time in a month or so. I started bleeding during sex and went on to have my period. This was well over a week early (usually 35 days) which i put down to the stress. I use a mooncup so could tell it was darker, not as heavy & did not hurt as usual. It stopped completely for about 6 days & i had sex with him again two days ago & tonight i started bleeding with the usual period symptoms of headache and tender back. I sometimes have really extreme reactions such as nausea, swollen joints, sciatica and horrible cramps but nothing like this before. I’ve been trying to research it on the internet which has left me really unsettled. Also a painful hard lump came up on the flesh on my pubic bone 5 days ago which i thought might be a bite because it didn’t look like a spot/ingrowing hair. Do you think there is any relation. I’ll try to see a Dr. tomorrow but would really appreciate any thoughts before then. Thanks

Could you possibly be pg? Sometimes when pg your cervix can bleed from sex.

Q&A: How long does sciatica in pregnancy last?

Question by ?Mama_Leigh?: How long does sciatica in pregnancy last?
I have had it for about a week now. And nothing helps. I have done:
ice, heat, tylenol, chiroprator, rest, stretching, etc….

Best answer:

Answer by Candace J
Unfortunately, it can last right up until you deliver :( Its how your baby is positioned..if the baby moves off of the sciatic nerve then the pain will disappear.
This happened with me, my daughter moved off of the nerve for about 2 months, and then i suppose she or her brother moved again and ended up on the nerve again right until I delivered. It isnt pleasant.
Good luck

Aches In Glutes, Should I Continue To Exercise?

Question by bee: Aches In Glutes, Should I Continue To Exercise?
I research my symptoms on line & it sounds like they are either fit sciatica or posterior pelvic pain. I don’t feel ANY discomfort in my back (high or low.) My only symptom is dull aches directly in the center of my Buttocks. Both right and left but more so on the left. Is this sciatica or posterior pelvic pain or other?
I exercise 3-4 times a week, can this make it worse or will it help? I really want to continue exercising but I am wondering if certain things may worsen the condition? THANKS!!

I would continue to exercise until your practitioner advises you not to. Rarely does exercise worsen things, it usually helps.

Why does the probability of experiencing sciatic pain peaks in the 50s and then decline with more advanced age?

Question by Scarlett: Why does the probability of experiencing sciatic pain peaks in the 50s and then decline with more advanced age?
The Course of Sciatica Pain

“The incidence of sciatica increases in middle age. Rarely occurring before age 20, the probability of experiencing sciatic pain peaks in the 50s and then declines.

Often, a particular event or injury does not cause sciatica, but rather the sciatic nerve pain tends to develop over time.

The vast majority of people who experience sciatica get better within a few weeks or months and find pain relief with non-surgical treatment. For others, however, sciatica pain from a pinched sciatic nerve can be severe and debilitating.

There are a few symptoms that may require immediate medical, and possibly surgical, intervention, such as progressive neurological symptoms (e.g. leg weakness) and/or bowel or bladder dysfunction.
Because sciatica pain is caused by an underlying medical condition, treatment is focused on relieving the underlying causes of symptoms. Treatment is usually self-care and/or non-surgical treatment, but for severe or intractable cases surgery may be an option.”

Just thinking; By the time most of us reach 50’s we have put on a few extra pounds. In our 60’s most of us retire and have more time to relax and spend time at home. I agree with any pain one needs to seek medical help.

How can my husband relieve his Sciatica pain?

Question by jaynellekenney: How can my husband relieve his Sciatica pain?
My husband knows that weight loss, stretching and seeing a chiropractor will help this condition, and I am trying to motivate him to do these things. However, most nights he is in much much pain that he can hardly stand it. He cant find a position that does not cause sharp pain in his thigh and hip. ANy ideas on temporary relief?

Best answer:

Answer by cateyes
The best temporary relief is medication. 10 years ago when this first started with me I was put on a prescription arthritis medication (it’s been banned since then) and it thankfully helped me to keep working for almost 2 years when I finally had to have surgery. I waited too late for the surgery though and ended up with a lot of nerve damage in my butt, thigh, knee and leg. Whatever form of therapy or surgery he chooses don’t wait too long, the nerve damage is permanent. He can’t get what I was prescribed but there are similar (safer) drugs out there to be had. Talk to his doctor about ‘arthritis’ medications, explain that you’ve heard they helped many others in the same pain. Otherwise, sciatica is a terrible pain that is not easily eased. In the meantime try taking Aleve, OTC, although I’m on Oxycontin I still have to take this to relieve the additional pain I am in.

Edit: in reference to the first answer, of course he has disk problems! If he didn’t he wouldn’t have sciatic pain. Duh! And weight loss isn’t a cure all, believe me I should know. I was very thin when my disk first ruptured and no matter what therapy, etc. I went through nothing helped, at all!

headaches
What could be wrong with me !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I;m sick of feeling yuck, my mum does know and im going to have a MRI soon

Best answer:

Answer by Zunden
A lot of that sounds like things that come from stress (getting nervous, so you clamp your jaw, causing pain in your jaw and tension in your head and neck that builds into headaches and neck aches, for example) or growing pains. Some of the symptoms seem like they might be causing the others (headaches causing the feeling of sickness, for example, as often happens with more severe headaches). It feels like a lot of scary symptoms, but it might be nothing really serious. Trust me, for a while in my life I was going blind and losing my balance every time I stood up, and then I’d get random pains all over my body that would cause me to be unable to move whatever hurt for as long as it hurt. Turns out I have low blood pressure and need more calcium. Some things sound really scary, but actually aren’t. So, take a deep breath and relax a little.
